Caroline and Jeff’s wedding was immersed in nature. The ceremony was set at the foot of the surrounding rugged mountains, and unfolded under an expansive blue sky. The reception was held at the Whistler Sliding Centre, a building enveloped with glass walls that open up to the majestic scenery of Whistler, giving guests an experience of being in the mountains. The day-of stationery was created to complement the setting, and featured simple, modern designs and textural elements like canvas and stone.

Elisia and Justus’s August 2020 wedding happened in the midst of the pandemic. Originally a celebration for 275 people, it transformed into a 50-person affair under the masterful project management of their planner, Alicia Keats. The new wedding date was also set within three weeks to take advantage of the slightly-less-strict regulations at the time—not that you could tell! The day turned out magically, with lovely touches of soft, feminine elegance woven throughout the entire setting from the decor to the florals to the venue space.

When we first met, Elisia had a clear vision of what kind of custom invitations she wanted to create. Looking back at my notes from our consult, she shared the following words to describe the feeling she wanted guests to experience when they opened their invitations: romantic, elegant, glamorous, classy, feminine, modern. Using a soft colour palette of blush-peach, frosted-white, and champagne gold, the final romantic wedding invitations incorporated the following:

Britt and Alex were married at the Polygon Gallery in North Vancouver, British Columbia which is a contemporary art gallery perched on the city’s harbour front, where the mountains meet the sea. The venue’s modern architecture is all about mixing glass and angular lines with the expansive light streaming in over the water.

With this custom wedding invitation suite, we wanted to extend the modern and minimalist aesthetic of the gallery into the stationery.

Kate and Connor’s vibrant, floral invitation suite is the perfect example of how an inspiration image can spark the wedding stationery design. Kate approached me with a photograph of warm, lush florals, loosely draped over a wooden arbour, and wanted the same vibrant, floral feel for her invites.

We created a bright, colourful invitation set with a half-frame floral arch for the invitation panel and a mini-bouquet for the personalized RSVP cards.

Wow, what an incredible party this wedding was! Full of brilliant florals, a jaw-dropping floral ceiling installation, and an amazing collection of interior decor, the hall of The Permanent was transformed from a vintage heritage space into a blooming garden bursting with rich colour!

Louisa and her mom, Judith, approached me to discuss creating a unique wedding invitation set that showcased the colourful beauty of the spring season and incorporated a touch of elegance from the historic venue which is owned and managed by the family. Our illustrator Veronika, created the most vibrant collection of bursting peonies and carnations and worked in some of the intricate shapes of the building’s stonework into the crest. We also had to make sure Marshall, Louisa’s pup who wouldn’t be present, was woven into the stationery throughout the day. He makes a special appearance on the postage stamps, complete with a celebratory polkadot bow-tie!

The cherry on top was the beautiful three-dimensional rendering of the chateau in which the couple got married.

Natalie and Jared’s wedding date arrived as the whole world was settling in to a social-distancing routine. June 2020 was meant to be a month of summer soirees yet many had to change plans to accommodate a new reality. This was the case for Natalie and Jared, and they tastefully pivoted to a smaller, more intimate wedding celebration at the family’s shared private property. The landscape featured lush, viney trellises, and we wanted to capture the romantic simplicity of the land, while still conveying the elegant aesthetic of the wedding. Their suite accomplished both.
